Our acute neurorehabilitation service works with people suffering from both progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions to design a person-centred care plan that involves both physical and cognitive rehabilitation. This involves a complex mix of various nursing and therapeutic interventions, including psychology input and medical support. We also provide specialist services for ventilator and tracheostomy care, disorders of consciousness and spasticity management (when spasticity occurs, muscles remain tight. This can cause pain, abnormal posture, and uncontrollable movements).
We have a team of dedicated physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, registered general nurses, registered mental nurses, dieticians and rehabilitation assistants who provide interventions, support and programmes of care with a goal-based approach. We work as an interdisciplinary team, with all disciplines working closely together with patients, family members and other health professionals to support recovery and promote independence.
